Flash fiction, about a boy in war times in Africa .Simply to inform of the world beyond us
Nhamo (blood diamond)

‘‘ Run Nhamo run!’’ mother screamed in unrelenting pain. I knew it then and I know it now that these cries would haunt me without an end. Never in my life was I so terrified as demon possessed being blared his machine gun into the already wavered crowd. Scream- click-bang and you were a goner. I watched in horror as a barbarian chopped a man’s hands off. Had he no humanity? What and who had made this monster? He continued on his violent tirade, slicing and dicing without a care in the world. Any shred or trace of remorse had disappeared , ceased to exist. Crimson colored solutions masked his face yet he went on savagely bludgeoning the innocent. I hated him. He wanted to kill me. A familiar voice called out to me ‘‘ Nhamo!’’ but all that was left was a faint echo that disappeared. Nagging fears of loss, loneliness coursed through my veins. I was alone now. The unearthed dust settled , smells of death surrounded me, I realized what I had lost. My family ,my home lost without a trace. Everything burnt beyond repair . So I did as I was told , I ran .

Just so you know :Nhamo means disaster and traditionally given to a boy
