Decisions made sometimes do not make you a favorite with your grandchildren.
Sweet Madeline

The sadness that I feel inside
Each day seems to persist.
The ache of knowing the one I love
Resents that I exist.

Who is it that can make me melt?
A smile and wit so charming
Eyes that sparkle in the light
Innocence so disarming.

You told me in your child words
So serious I fear.
When asked what is it that is wrong
You answered so very clear.

I don’t want you to kiss me
I’m mad at you is why.
I don’t want you to love me
My daddy doesn’t lie.

You are my daughter’s only child
With love she helps you grow.
Because of trials in your life
Your grandma takes the blow.

Decisions made that were so hard
I made for many reasons.
Made some react with disbelief
Which caused a different season.

So young and sweet my Madeline
Your loyalty and love so true
Remember that I love you more
Than in the sky there’s blue.
