How does it matter to him if the sun will rise the other day or not?
His perch is the leafless pinnacle of a Asoka tree. I know it is sunset time when I see that crow perched on its top. When I say  ‘that’ it means that I am sure it is the same crow that sits there every evening before sun down, he has a  black mark on otherwise  plain grey neck. The crimson color of sunset  makes  him  look like an awkward combination of orange, black and grey. He is a picture of calm and poise perched on the tree, facing the western glow.

Never before I had observed a bird so closely, I am more of a dog- person but now i have grown used to seeing him, there on the top every evening. I wonder what he thinks sitting there. How does it matter to him if the sun will rise the other day or not? he will remain  a crow. Does he pray that next morning he will become someone else, some whose existence matters? Or does he mentally draws up a plan to get food  for the next day.

I feel crow is better than lot of humans meters below, alteast he enjoys the spectacle of nature, sun going down and rising next day, something that we humans miss, sun rise and sunset are not beautiful anymore, they are signals to go to work, cut through the traffic, wade through office politics, grab a bite if possible, try to do something worthy during the hours when sun is over head that will justify our being there and then run back home when sun is  going down or sometimes not.

The currency-less worlds of other living species besides us, humans, seems much better and calmer. They are not worried about markets crashing, rising prices of oil or carbon footprint, this and everything else that holds absolute priority for us, is non-existent in their world. In fact our reality is not even their dream but our dream of peace, clam, satisfaction and happiness is their reality

And probably this is what the crow on  the tree top might think too, thank  god I am a crow , I can breathe better air, have nicest of views, can fly whenever and wherever I want ,( that too without begin worried about  technical l snags, ticket prices etc.)  I am better off than these two legged weird creatures; I live life on my terms.
