An open window on a dreary afternoon...
CARTOONS AT FIRST AND FOURTH

A cartoon was on my street today ---
Tall, lean with rounded shoulders…
a stooped and lumbering stride.
His face an exaggerated profile,
an easy smile giving me pause:
Is this real?

Wide eyes sweeping around
catch many more cartoons
differing in style and size ---
women, men, young and old.
A window open for just awhile
caused me to stop and smile.
