Written from the point of view of a child soldier, written for STAND
I am young,
But I am Dangerous.
Look into my eyes,
You won't see innocence.
You will see death,
Hatred,
Anger,
Destruction.
All by my hand.
You will see all I have ever known.
I have been raised,
Neh,
Bred for this.
When trapped in troubled times,
We do all we can
To survive.
I do what I am told,
What I am trained to do,
And I live another day.
My survival depends
On the death of others.
I do not know who they are,
What they have done.
I do know they chose the wrong side.
And I know what I must do.
To live,
I must kill them.
These people are nameless to me.
I will never know who they are,
Were,
But I know who I am.
Do you?
I am young.
A child.
But I am a soldier.
I am armed,
And I am dangerous.
