This is about a horse that lived only about a month and was euthanized due to injury.
Today, we said goodbye to daily hopes and daring dreams.
I felt your breath float away and a new heartache beginning.
She calls for you, her cries are piercing protests
as they struggle in the grass with too many stones.

On a day like today, it's good to see a foal
held captive by the sun and guarded by its dappled dam,
ears twitching with dreams and long legs sprawled in slumber.

On a day like today, I must believe
that you can now run and play in a perfect pasture
with horses whose hoofbeats still echo in our hearts.

On a day like today, I whisper apologies and
sow wildflower seeds over a small patch
of earth that will forever hold your name...
