For Sherri Gibson's Coloring the World contest using her weekly prompt
I'M NOT A FOOL

I can see it in your eyes and hear it in your voice,
the pain that you are in now is no reason to rejoice.
You've lost your pride and spirit, feeling really lost,
I wish that you could see she's not worth the cost.

I'm not a fool for trying to help you see it through
but there is only just so much that a Mom can do.
You have to want to change your life and move on
or be a slave to self-pity and not admit she's gone.

I've been through the same things, not so long ago.
I had to take a look at life and decide what way to go.
What worked for me may not be what you want to do,
so I'll just keep trying to be there with prayers for you.

We can always hope for better days soon to come.
somewhere out there is for you a special someone.
Take your time and think it through before you go,
leave your troubles behind and know I love you so.

I'm not a fool for trying to help you see the light,
that someday things will once again be bright.
Keep memories of the good times, forget the bad,
you have only lost if you forget all that you had.
