Courtly Love Poem
The Captain And The Gunner's Wife




Be still mine heart,
Race ye not.
I bid thee rest a while,
For my love,
She cometh,
With a smile that hides no guile.

Be still mine heart,
Even thy pace,
Hold fast my careworn nerve,
For my love.
She cometh,
For she persueth love with verve.


Be still mine heart,
Decline ye beating.
Hold true to a heart so fine,
For my love,
She cometh,
In my arms she will be mine.
