Speaking with God.

I walked with God
one night – last:
“Speak to me,” I said.
I looked up –
There, the stars
were clear and bright:
I recognized the planet Mars
Reflecting our sun’s light ~
And all the other stars burned bright
And spoke to me of One.

“Speak to me, God,” I asked again.
“In language, if you please.”
“Isn’t this enough?” he said,
sweeping his hand through the glittering sky,
“More you do not need.

My language is beauty, mystery, love.
Look at my Creation.
Put this vision into words,
Share poetry with my children.

These burning stars in this limpid sky
Speak to you of me;
Now do you see?
In silence, God’s creation sings ~

To know me, purify your heart,
Wait, and look above:
Then will you see, and hear, and learn
my wisdom and my love.”
