Written originally on a broken piece of floor tile that I found.
Poor old floor tile,

Broken and forgotten.

Never to be whole again.

No one noticed it's existence

No one mourned it's disappearance

Except he who payed for it

And he who replaced it.

Now a brand new floor tile

Rests in its place

A floor tile with no cracks

Or chips in it.

It is whole,

For now,

Until it too becomes broken

Chipped

Damaged.

Then it will be replaced

With another newer tile,

And it will enter into

The never ending,

Never noticed

Cycle of broken floor tiles.

One we all experience.

Eventually we will die.

Then be replaced.

And then forgotten.

We don't like to think about it

But we all know it is reality.

We are as insignificant as this floor tile.
