Despair and Hope
I have seen you
Never lament for another
It's good enough
to smash yourself to bits

The morning jay
and half-light crows jeer
As we drag ourselves along
The future names us with pity

Praying for nightfall
Each day sooner comes stalking
When dreams sag and twist and die

In time nights' disguise
will abandon us utterly
And my secret will save me
