Being betrayed by something you refuse to let go of. (Not from personal experience.)
Of all the things
I’ve stumbled over,
Of all the wrongs
I’ve done,

I never thought
That of all things in the world,
You would be
The most hideous one.

To ever think
That brilliant trill
Was nothing
But falsetto.

My dismay
Measured
Stretches from here
To Kyoto.

This song
Of freedom,
The beat
I had ever marched to,

All but sickens me
With lies,
Leaves my faith stricken
Black and blue.

Of all the things
I’ll ever do,
Any sin
I’d gladly commit

Just to see
That look
On your face,
Filled with regret

And hatred
And loathing
And
Fear.

Anything
If only
To send you running
Back to here.
