CONTEST POEM
He stood there with me, bright and green
The light from his face shown like a beam.
I awoke to feel so safe
In his presence, and the smile on his face

He reached in his bag a flower he had
And handed me the flower and said don’t be sad
"It’s magic for you" he said to me
And laughed and smiled and slapped his knee

I took the flower he handed me
One special wish, it will be.
I thought of what I needed most
For the magic flower I am the host.

I waved the flower in the air
And wished my grandpa would be there.
He’s been gone for a long long time
But he loved me most and stays in my mind.

No one appeared when I made my wish,
I thought it was just another con man pitch.
But then the little man did say
“He is here as in everyday”

“Look in your heart and in your mind.”
“He’s been there a long long time.”
“You don’t need magic to see again,
Just look for the love you hold within.”

The magic that day I found to be,
Within in my heart, it stays with me.
I can have the love I knew.
It’s in my heart through and through.
