a very short poem of a daisy in distress.
The Lightning crackled as it hit the ground
Sizzling the flower where it stood
Then retreated with a hint of a snicker
And, with a second, sashaying flash, the lightning was gone for good
In its wake, the daisy petals fell to ash
And seeped into the solemn soil
                  About the stricken flower
Dew dripped down lush green pinpricks with tops tipped respectfully south
              Like mournful tears trailing
Cutting their way down wan flesh
A Daisy died away, while Thunder boomed its Triumph.
