Inspired by a dream. **Honorable Mention in the 69th Traditional Poetry Contest
Distant fires beneath the sun,
Countless men begin their run,
A sick and twisted lie unfolds,
To which the blackened world holds.

Remarkable loss and poisoned gain,
Abandoned love, inflicted pain,
No one wins when all is lost,
and even so, to what such cost?
