Meet the main characters of the book.
The Brutal Wars
The First Strike

It had been ten years since the girl, whose name was Dianna, had taken Romulus into her home withour her father's permission, but even then he was welcomed with open arms and was soon treated like Lord Cruma's only son. During his time with the Sol family, Romulus learned many skills that wouldnt normally have been taught to anyone besides the rich or noble. Skills such as how to read, write, fight, and, his favorite subject, Invention.
Invention was a term given to the ability of an individual to take the most basic of elements found in the world and turn it into anything such as a weapon or a completely new tool. Of course the individual had to have a certain amount of mana flowing through his veins in order to mend and mold the element to his liking.
Upon his seventh birthday Romulus was playing with a vial of frog bile that he had retrieved off his professors desk and when the professor return he saw that Romlulus had turned the frog bile into crystal clear drinking water. The professor immediately reported this to Lord Cruma and upon his orders the professor taught Romulus the art of Invention.
After Romulus turned fifteen He joined the Waverly Guard as an archer. Even though there were only a few hundred defending a poplulation of more than six thousand, the city had always been protected by the wooden wall that encircled it.
During the ten years that had passed, Romulus had mande several good friends, besides Dianna.
Lucien, who was a five foot tall, red haired man with tan skin, and green eyes, was also in the Waverly Guard but unlike Romulus his position was that of swordsman.
Geron, who was more of a loner like Romulus, was a giant, at almlost seven feet tall he towered over everyone, even Lord Cruma. He had black hair that was always pulled back in a ponytail, and yellow eyes. He worked in the blacksmith making some of the best weapons around.
Fulter, who was also a Waverly archer, was a few inches shorter than Romulus and preferred to shave his head, which many of the women in town will agree, "Brings out his blue eyes."
With these friends Romulus thought that he would be invincible but his fatih in his friends, country, and his very beliefs would be shaken to the core....

And this is where our story begins....
