A poem describing my greatest childhood fear. Feedback is greatly appreciated.
The monster was coming

I watched through my bedroom window

The monster was coming

It was always coming

Yet never appeared

I didn’t have to see it

I knew what it would look like

A grey swirling mass

It would destroy everything

And uncover the rest

The monster was coming

I waited for signs

I waited for my monster

The monster was coming

I looked away from the window

A monster isn’t meant to be seen

I lay my head down

I needed sleep

The monster wasn’t coming tonight

But the monster was coming

Tomorrow night

Or the night after

The monster was coming
