Going fishing for the first time.
The lunch was packed,we had four fishing rods with us worms, shrimp, and minnows.  I wasn't sure what the fish was biting it had been almost two years since I'd been fishing.  As my son hook his seat belt and I pulled out of the garage, he ask me mom how old were you when you first went fishing?

About your age, ten.  Did you like it?  Welllll ohm! lets just say I wasn't sure what to expect.  As we cruised down the street early that Saturday morning, I remember another Saturday morning when I was ten.  Mom took me to visit Great Aunt Pinky.

I like to visit  Aunt Pinky, her house always smelled like cake and cookies.  That night getting ready for bed she said, do you want to go fishing with me sweetpea? Sure I said.  Get some sleep then ,because we leave early to catch the fish while their sleeping.  She chuckled as she left the bedroom.

It seem I had just close my eyes when I was being awakened by my aunt. Wash up and get dress sweetpea, breakfast is on the table.  I made quick work of washing my face and brushing my teeth.  The next thing I knew we was going out the back door.  My aunt gave me a cane pole with a string wrap around it with a hook on the end.  She also gave me a pail full of dirt, and told me to carry them.  She grab two more poles a small picnic basket and two strawhats, and started walking toward the woods. Where are we going I asked?  Just on the other side of the wood is the Alabama River.  It 's full of catfish and river trout.

The first thing that sent me into a state of shock  and sent my heart to racing, was to find I'd been carrying a pail full of worms. The second I was to put said worms on the end of the hook.  Several tries and thirty minutes later I finally had my hook in the water.  Move it back and forth gently my aunt said.  I did this for a while nothing seem to be happening.  Only thing getting a bite was the mosquitas  out of me.  All of sudden my rod almost flew out of my hands.  Pull my aunt yell, hold on, step back pull it in toward you, I'll get the net she said. Out of the water pop the ugliest fish I had ever seen.  I hell him until my aunt put him in the net. She then showed me how to remove the hook without hurting myself. I had caught my first catfish.

I had a grand time that  day with my Aunt Pinky and learning to fish.  I caught three fish that day and fell in love with fishing.  Thanks to a very patient lady who made my first time a joy.  I hoped to do the same for my son. 554 words
