My Friendship......Love

                                          Chapter 1-The Begining   
(I didn't know what was in store.
When I walked right through the door.
Then I saw you over there, our blue eyes locked in a stare.
I didn't know quite what to say; sometimes words get in the way.)

Katelyn Anderson sighed and lay on her front garden; she smiled as the clouds moved above her. She had finally finished her exams…..! She just wanted to relax; she closed her eyes for a second.
She sighed heavily and then heard footsteps; she opened her eyes to find Larry Gate- her best friend since she was 6- smiling at her. He lies next to her.

“Hi Larry!”
“Hey Kate, I see you finished your exam, how did you find it??”
“It was uhhhhh ok. I think I may have just passed…….”
“I bet if I had been there you would’ve been more confident!”
Katelyn scoffed.

(In black and white I read the screen, all your lines and in-between.
Then your message on the phone, I save to hear when I'm all alone.
And Now I know just what to say, this doesn't happen everyday.)

Katelyn scoffed and rolled her eyes.
“In your dreams, Larry, YOU can’t live without ME!”
Katelyn said, as they both started to laugh, they were best friends. They were inseparable.  They went everywhere together. 
But they both had a secret, they were in love……with each other.
They hugged

“Ohhhhh Katelyn and Larry sitting in a tree K.I.S.S.I.NG!”
The best friends pulled away from their hug to find Annie and Kirsty smirking at them.  Annie was dating Henry Lake and Kirsty was dating Kevin Roberts. Both girls could tell how much Katelyn and Larry loved each other; in fact everyone could see it, except Katelyn and Larry, so the two best friends liked to joke and maybe hint too.
“Hey girls.”
Katelyn said getting up. They hugged. Larry smiled at his best friend; he sat on the grass staring at the three girls. He knew every moment that he spent with Katelyn he was falling more and more head over heels in love with her. But he didn’t care

“Aren’t we gonna get a hug from you, Larry?”
Annie asked snapping him out of his thoughts. He smirked and got up.
“Yea I told you I am irresistible!”
He hugs the three girls.
Katelyn giggles and smirks.
“Hmmm yeah in your dreams Larry!”
Kirsty said as the three girls high fived each other.
“Shall we go to asda?”
Katelyn suggests as the 2 girls and Larry nod.
They head off to asda, Katelyn’s and Larry’s linked and Kirsty’s arm linked to Annie’s arm, the 2 girls walk behind the best friends.

                                        Chapter 2-This can’t be happening
When they arrive in asda.
Kirsty grabs a basket and they walk in.
“C’mon, let’s go and look at the DVDS!”
Katelyn said just about to move when she is stopped by a frozen Larry who is almost drooling right in front of him.
As there stands a plastic, female, about his age. With Blond hair. In one word perfect.
“Looks like Larry is on the plastic train!”
Annie sad as she and Kirsty both giggled.
“Shut up guys, oh jees and it’s not just any plastic it’s…….Cory Hopkins, the girl who hates me!”
Katelyn said as she, Annie and Kirsty pretended to gag. Larry still stood there.
“I um I think I am gonna go over and say hi to her.”
Larry said as he unlinked arms with Katelyn and started to walk over to where Cory was standing talking to one of her friends, but Katelyn grabs his arm. Katelyn knew fine that Larry had been crushing on Cory for at least 4 months now, and she knew Cory liked him back.
It was pretty obviously with the hints she sent, obvious to everyone except Larry.
“Larry, I know she may seem…..what’s the word…”nice” …..But believe me she is not. She hates me; she is a plastic, please don’t fall for her. There are loads more girls out there, so much better for you than she is!”
Katelyn said fighting back tears of jealousy.
“Kate, she probably won’t even like me back I just want to say hi. I’ll be right back.”
Larry said as he kissed her hand and walked over to Cory and her friend.
Katelyn watched with horror as the two “cuties” talked and smiled.
“Oh I think someone is jealous...!”
Kirsty said as Annie nodded with them both folding their arms.
“Shut up, I am not. I just don’t think they are right for each other……there are loads of girls at our school, and HE had to pick HER!”
Katelyn said crossly.
“Kate, I can see you are worried. But you two have been friends since forever so don’t worry about it. He is not gonna do ANYTHING to wreck your friendship. You are too close for that to happen. Right?”
Annie said as she and Kirsty hugged her just as Katelyn saw the one thing she was dreading:
Cory kissing Larry.....and Larry kissing her back.
“No…!”
Katelyn said with tears in her eyes.
“NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
She screamed as she ran out the shop, just as Larry and Cory pulled back…. Larry saw his best friend running out the shop he apologized to his now new girlfriend and ran after to Katelyn out the shop.
Annie and Kirsty stood there at the entrance, looking at the two best friends in jeopardy. They looked at each other and ran after them.

                                              Chapter 3- The mistake.
Katelyn walked as fast as she could back home. She couldn’t believe that he would do that to her. After all they have been through, when his dog died; she was there right beside him. He helped her gain confidence with her first crush.
He couldn’t do this he just couldn’t!!!!
“Why!!!!!” Katelyn thought to herself.
“KATE!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Larry shouted as he ran to catch up with her. She continued walking. He caught up her eventually and stood in front of her stopping her from going any further.
“Look Kate I really like Cory, she is really nice once you get to know her.  If you give her a chance then I am sure you, her, Kirsty and Annie will be good friends.”
Larry said taking her hands and holding them tight.
“Larry, you don’t understand. We can never be friends. She was the one who spread the rumour about Kirsty and Kevin!”
Katelyn said remembering when Kevin and Kirsty were in a secret relationship and they were unlucky enough to be spotted by Cory who took a picture and spread it round the school. The couple had no choice but to go public.
“You don’t know that!!!”
Larry said.
He didn’t understand why his best friend was being so unreasonable.  Maybe it was a girl thing.
“Yes I do!!!! If you go out with her, then she will change you. You will forget about your friends, me, Kirsty, Kevin, Henry and Annie. We will never see each other. Because you will have new mates that are more important than us!”
Katelyn said.
“Listen Kate, you need to trust me, no one is more important to me than you. And no girlfriend is gonna change that! You will ALWAYS be my number one most important person. You are my best friend and will always be my best friend!”
Larry said as the two best friends hugged.
Of course Katelyn believed him and for a while Larry kept to his word but Cory and her friends started to influence him……………………
                                                Chapter 4-Broken friendship.
A few weeks pass……….
Katelyn, Kirsty and Annie sighed and watched as Larry hugged his girlfriend and started to talk to his new mates. Ever since that incident in Asda, Larry had spent less and less time with the girls and more and more time with his girlfriend and his new friends.
“I can’t believe this……! After all we have been through together, he goes behind my back and he is getting changed by that little two timing Barbie.”
Katelyn said as the couple start to walk towards them. Katelyn smiles but her smile soon fades when they walk past the girls, with Larry not even smiling at them like he is in a trance.

That night.

Katelyn lies in her bed, looking at her scrap book with pictures of her and Larry.
Annie and Kirsty didn’t come into the group until at least primary 5, so they had to adapt to having a boy who was their friend. Katelyn wouldn’t give up Larry for them.
Katelyn sighs as she looks at a picture of her and one of her crushes and remembers,  when she had her date with him and Larry helped her with her nerves:-
                                                Flashback
Its primary 5, Katelyn is crushing on this boy called Callum McGuire.  She finally had the courage to ask him out She walks over to Larry’s house and rings the doorbell. Larry’s mum: Laura answers.
“Hi Katelyn, Larry’s in his room. Go on up.”
Laura said smiling. She and Katelyn’s mum were also friends and they both knew how much their children meant to each other. Katelyn smiles and walks up and knocks on Larry’s door.
“C’mon in.”
Katelyn walks in and giggles when she sees the messy room in front of her.
“Hey Kate, shouldn’t you be getting ready for your date with Mr “I’m cool”??”
Larry asked as Katelyn sat down on his bed beside him.
“I’m so nervous Larry; I think I will have to cancel.”
Katelyn said as Larry shook his head. He took a loose strand of hair and tucked it behind her hair.
“You’ll be fine.”
Larry said.
“How do you know??”
“Just believe in yourself.”
“Ok…..before I go, could I um kiss you? I want to practise my kissing technique……!”
Larry smirked.
“You really think he is gonna kiss you…?”
He asked as he saw how nervous his best friend was. 
He sighed and slowly leans in, Katelyn leans in too. Soon the best friends are kissing…..they pull back after a few seconds.
At that exact moment, Larry knew he was in love with Katelyn. But he couldn’t say it now; she was going on a date.
Katelyn knew it too, they both felt a spark when they kissed.
Katelyn smiles.
“Thanks Larry.”
She kisses him on the cheek and leaves smiling to herself.
                                              End of flashback.
“That kiss was so magical.” Katelyn thought to herself.
She also remembered, around primary 7 when one of her other crushes/boyfriends broke up with her a few days after her cat died. He broke up with because she was so upset about her cat and never spent time with her. Larry was so mad and he got into a fight with him and after that the boy had a broken nose and a black eye.
After that, every boy knew not to upset Larry’s Gates best friend.
“It’s not fair.”
Katelyn said as she hugged her cat, Oscar, the cat Larry and the girls gave her on her 13th birthday.  He was a rescue cat and was only 6 months when he was given to Katelyn.
Oscar purred and curled up on Katelyn’s lap and licked her hand as if to say “it’s gonna be ok”
Her parents were out and her brother was staying over at his friend’s house. She sighed.
“I wonder where Larry is right now. I hope he isn’t at his girlfriends.” She thought just as the doorbell rang.
She sighed heavily and ran downstairs and opened the door to find………….
“Larry!!!!! What are you doing here????”
Katelyn asked as she let her best friend in.
“Well, it’s a Friday night.  Cory is away to her Grans in Haddington, I am bored.  I was wondering if you wanted to watch a movie?  Like old times…..”
Larry said as they sat down in the sitting room.
“Larry, it’s half 8, by the time we get there it will be 9.15 and then by the time it finishes it’ll be at least 11, besides in the old times we used to watch movies at our houses.”
“Kate, I didn’t say ANYTHING about going to the cinema……I brought you favourite- The Notebook.”
Katelyn smiles as she is handed the DVD. “He always did know how to cheer me up.” She thought.
                                                  A few hours later.
The best friends are watching the movie and are half way through it.  They are both lying on the couch; Katelyn is in Larry’s protective arms (in a friend’s kind of way). Katelyn smiles as he kisses her head.

“Larry???”
“What is it, Kate??”
“Ya know that party next Friday….?”
“Yep…!”

“Are you going to take Cory as your date?? Because we have to bring some one. “
Larry sighed, he had completely forgotten about that party. He had promised himself, before Cory came into the picture that that would be the night he admitted his love to Katelyn.

“Eh yeah, I kinda do……”
Larry said as Katelyn moved out of his arms and turned around looking at him.
“You don’t have to you know……!”
“I do Kate…..I wish I could take you…..!”
“Well why can’t you????? Forget about your stupid girlfriend for a minute!”
Katelyn said as she got pausing the movie and walked into the hall.

“Because I have a girlfriend. And If I brought you…..people may get the wrong idea and someone may tell Cory.”
“The wrong idea??? Like “Oh look those two are best friends, they must be together since they are here together.”

“And besides it wouldn’t be good for my rep……”
Katelyn gasped just as those words left Larry’s mouth.
“Your rep???!!!! I KNEW IT!!!!!! She HAS changed you!  The old Larry, wouldn’t care up his rep. The old Larry wouldn’t HAVE a rep to worry about!”
Katelyn sat down on the steps.

She yelled as he opened the door.

She slammed the door and slowly fell to the ground and cried into her knees, whispering "jerk" quietly to herself.

                                            Chapter 5-One week.
It has been at least 3 days since Katelyn and Larry’s fall out. Katelyn is more and more depressed and Larry is un happy too.
One night he decides to phone Annie and Kirsty. They are currently over at Annie’s talking to a sad and depressed Katelyn over a social networking site called “face book”
Annie and Kirsty are laughing as Katelyn just sent them something funny to watch. Suddenly Annie’s phone starts to ring to the ringtone of “Halo”

“Remember those walls I built

“Hello????”
Annie answered as she put the caller on loudspeaker.
“Hi Annie, Kirsty It’s me……Larry….”
“LARRY!!!! Why are YOU calling us????”
Annie asked shocked.

Annie and Kirsty sit there speechless…..They knew already he loved her but now he had admitted they were pretty shocked.
“Hello?”
Larry asked when they didn’t respond.
“We’re here…..Larry are you Serious??????”
“Yea dead serious….!”
Annnie and Kirsty looked at each other and sighed……It was now or never to tell him…….
“Larry you need to know something…..”
Kirsty Started…..
“Know what????”
“Katelyn……Uh is kinda going out with one of your mates……!”
Annie said waiting for Larry’s reaction.

“Oh my god……Who????”
Larry asked praying to god it’s not the guy he thinks it is…..!
“It’s um Ron, Ron McDonald.......“
Larry swore in his head to kill Ron next time he saw him.
“We’re sorry Larry, we really are. Katelyn loved you too but she is just angry at you now because of Cory…….we told her not to accept his invite to dinner, but she was in a trance by his eyes….she IS a sucker for blue eyes.”
Kirsty explained.

"Where’s Katelyn tonight???”
Larry asked as he just realized the girls haven’t mentioned her at all
“She is talking to us on face book……..”
“Don’t tell her about this conversation…..”
Annie is just about to tell him that they all ready told her the whole conversation over face book but Kirsty stops her.
“Yea sure.”
She says.
Larry smiles to himself and sighs with relief if Katelyn found out she would freak.

Larry said as Kirsty scoffed and Annie gave her the “this is gonna be hard” look.
“Girls….please!? I am absolutely Truly madly deeply in love with her.”
The girls smile as “Truly Madly Deeply” comes on the radio:-

Annie said.

Kirsty added as Larry stared at the phone confused.
“What do you mean??”
“She came up to her yesterday and slapped her right across her the cheek, telling her to stay away from you!”
Annie explained.
“Is she ok??”
Larry asked concerned.
“She’s fine, but she has a big mark on her cheek.”
Kirsty said.

Kirsty told him.
Larry apologises again. The talk more about the plan and then finally they hang up.

Katelyn screamed on the phone to Kirsty and Annie as they wanted to tell her over the phone rather than over the internet.
“We know! It’s so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Kirsty said as the girls squealed.
“I can’t believe he said that, it’s like he is changing back to himself! That is the Larry I know!!!!!! Oh my god I love him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Katelyn said smiling lying on her bed listening to the rest of “Truly Madly Deeply”

Annie asked remembering that one tiny detail.

“He’s a really nice guy, Annie but I couldn’t ever love him. I get the feeling he is falling in love with me though……I’ll need to end it soon, if I don’t want to break his heart, which I don’t….”
“He’s gonna get his heart broken either way Kate.”
“I know. Oh god, this is so difficult.”
Katelyn said sighing.
The girls discuss their plans for Friday, and soon they end their conversation.

A few days later, it is the night of the party. Katelyn is getting ready, it is currently half past 6, her parents and her brother are all out. Ron, Annie and Kirsty are due to come round at 7, and they are all going to be walking together.
She smiles as she looks at herself in the mirror, admiring the dress she bought recently.  She sighs and walks downstairs to put her shoes just as the doorbell rings.
“They’re early.” She thought.
She opened the door to find……………………………………………..
“Larry! What are you doing here???”
Katelyn asked just about to close the door when….
“I broke up with my girlfriend.”
He said smiling as Katelyn switched on the front door lights, Larry looked at her.
“Wow you look amazing…….What happened to your face??”
Larry asked.
“Your ex girlfriend slapped me…….”
Katelyn said folding her arms looking at him not amused.
“Oh my god, Kate I am so sorry. If I had known I would’ve broken up with her sooner……because NO ONE does that to my best friend and gets away with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
“Oh I’m still your best friend??”
“Yea, of course! I mean only if you will forgive me!?”
“Hmmm I dunno…….I mean what makes you so sure I will forgive you…?”
“I dunno because I guess because we are best friends…and you love me…..?”
Katelyn looks at him and then slaps him.
“Owww what was that for??”
Larry asked as he is greeted by Katelyn who hugs him tightly. He kisses the top of her head (in a friend way!)
“KATELYN!!!!”
The two friends pull back to find a very angry and confused Ron, Annie and Kirsty, they run up to them.
“What do you think you’re doing with my girlfriend?????”
Ron asked Larry looking angry at him.

“Nothing dude, we were just having our normal “friend’s hug”……do you have a problem with that???”
“Yea I do actually because according to Katelyn, MY girlfriend, she told me EVERYTHING, and in my books if I were HER I wouldn’t WANT to hug you!”
Ron said getting angrier now.
“Ron, it was just a hug……”
Katelyn said.

“Just a hug! Kate! You told me you never wanted to see him again because of his girlfriend!!!!!!!!!”

Larry looks confused at her……..

Katelyn said lying to her boyfriend and her 3 best friends.

Ron said and with that he punched Larry. Katelyn gasped as Larry replies by punching back, the boys are soon in a little fight, wrestling.

Katelyn yelled but the boys continue to fight. She tries to grab Ron but he accidentally elbows her in the face, causing her to fall back but luckily Kirsty and Annie catch her.

Katelyn asked looking hopeful into Ron’s eyes.
