A young shepherd thinks back on his Christmas experience
Lord, it was well nice,
Even paradise,
That night on the hill
When you sent your angel.

A figure in white
Lit up the night;
He said, "Don't be scared."
We couldn't speak a word!

We were stunned by the sight
Of this man glowing bright.
With boldness he spoke
To us shepherd folk:

"A newsflash I bring
About a new King;
He's God's own Son,
The Promised One.

And you are the first
To be told us his birth,
In the city of David
You'll find this Kid.

Go now while you're able
To a manger in a stable."
Then more angels came,
The sky was aflame.

Their praises were sweet,
Our wonder complete;
We just stood in awe
Of all that we saw.

Then we went
To the place we were sent,
And saw this Lad
Who made our hearts glad.

That night I'll never forget;
It was spooky and yet
It'll stay in my head
Until I am dead.

With my own eyes I'd seen
The Littl'un who'd been
Sent down from glory,
Wow - what a story!
