Grief struck Alessandro is unable to reconcile to his fate.
Alessandro could not reconcile himself to the loss. Life became an unbearable burden. He lost all interest in his work, stopped speaking with his friends and felt neither hunger nor thirst.

His distressed family tried to console him but to no avail. Nothing mattered anymore. God’s cruelty was immeasurable.

Italy had lost the World Cup.
