Sitting and thinking does not take one anywhere.
PICK UP THE DICE: a sonnet, Award Winner

Why keep gazing forever at the dice?
Why wait for the most opportune moment?
Prevarication is a mental vice;
It adds only to one’s predicament.

Can he who keeps sitting at river bank
Learn swimming without entering water?
One must jump in and be quite bold and frank.
He only wins who just does not falter.

The wise ought to be quite careful that
We waste not what we can’t ever regain.
Let thriftiness be our guiding diktat;
Let saving each minute be our refrain.

Let’s pick up the dice, roll it and just throw.
Do not keep sitting in the waiting row.
