A poem of courage and determination
I've looked the devil in the eye
Said in his fire I’d never fry
I told him he could stay in hell
I plan to stay here for a spell

Sure I have had a heart attack
I once was dead but now I'm back
I don't give in so easily
Or give a damn for civility

When Mr. Cancer came to call
I was not pleased with him at all
He said your name is on my list
A pound of flesh I must insist

I said can we negotiate
Which part of me will mitigate
We settled for a half a lung
My life then in the balance hung

But you can't keep this old bull down
It's been a while, I'm still around
I'm in good health considering
And I am still accomplishing

I've wrote two books since that occurred
And now I'm working on a third
I don't have time to mess around
Too much to do, I'll stand my ground.
