Voyager is near in the outer solar system after traveling over 14 billion miles
Voyager  is a unmanned  spacecraft that was launched in 1977 to explore the outer solar system and planets. Voyager  has now traveled over 14 billion miles. Voyager  passed Jupiter in 1979, moving pass Saturn in 1980. The spacecraft has logged 12,000 days continuous operating service. The ship contains nuclear electric generators that allow continued operation of its scientific instruments.

The spacecraft is set to enter interstellar space, where it will study the boundaries of the solar system, including the Kuiper Belt. In 2020, Voyager 2 will be more than 13 billion miles from Earth. The transmission power of the Voyager 1 is less than 20 watts weakened by the distance. The transmission signals take 14 hours and 20 minutes to reach the Madrid Deep Space Complex Communication complex
