free verse poem
Forgotten

In her room she sits alone
Rocking each day away
Forgotten more than before

Her bed is small and hard
Above her head is a cross
She sleeps seeking peace

Shedding her lonely tears
The nights are the hardest
Time is slow now as is she

Finding little to smile about
Existing and taking up space
Considered a family burden

The man she loved is gone
The window is her only friend
Outside is a world she knew

Would she change if she could
Praying God to take her home
Never again will she be alone
