An injustice to a young girls life, revisited much too often.
The long walk before morning,
I've taken over time.
As the night creeps in,
bringing memories unkind.

Living life wearing others lies.
Pain some would make fun of,
or some would simply deny.
Fronting for society's sake, blend in, compromise.

To carry on, hoping no one sees,
the lowered head, bent back, sore prayerful knees.
Watching life pass with less interest each day.
Causes, you wish to be part of ... the mind turns away.

Dreams of a life once lived but no longer lived,
possessed by a mind, no longer willing to give.
Each night, seeking answers before the dawn,
limit reached, strength gone.

We all take walks before morning, at times,
different reasons, same restless soul.
For some the walk is brief ... defined,
for others, long and bitterly ...  cold.
