My first draft of my original solo production. Please read it and edit it C=
This piece is my Original Solo Production and is only my first draft. My character is a married middle-class woman in 1850s in England. Her husband is abusive and has an affair with their servant. She confronts him about it and he bashes her until she stabs him to death. Please read through it and give me your opinions. They are greatly appreciated.

( Sits on chair which is facing Stage Right with legs crossed facing the audience. Amused.) No. ( leans forward with elbows on knees) I do not regret what I have done. ( leans back.) Not at all. (Gets up to Stage Centre. Raised voice. ) I was to be obedient to him ( points Stage Right) to bear him children, as many as he wanted... to be faithful to him. ( angry and pointing at audience) But no one ever said that your husband was to be faithful to his wife! ( Sighs.) I knew he was unfaithful.

One night I called upon our filthy servant to run me a bath when she did not answer me. So I looked for that filthy thing. I opened the door to her quarters, but it was empty! So I looked, in every room, but all were empty. There were noises coming from my husband's room so I slightly opened his door and found him on top of the filthy servant. ( sits back on chair) Of course I kept quiet about it.

The next night he was out at the pub with his other bankers. He stumbled in through the door and collapsed on the sofa. I sat opposite him and told him that I knew about the affair. He got up and threatened me with his fist. I pushed him away from me when he threw himself onto me and punched me four times. He threw me against the kitchen bench and pulled my hair as I got out a knife.

He slapped my face as I took a step forward. I stabbed his heart,,, then his intestines,,, pushed his bloodied body to the ground ( kneels on ground) his mouth,,, his neck. And the job was done. ( smiles at audience. Gets up and wipes hands on waist and sits back on chair.) No. I do not regret it. Not at all.
