The Letter
By: Eric Lewis

I woke up in the morning before the break of dawn
To find my bed was empty and you already gone.
I thought we’d be together and never far apart
And then I heard the sound of the breaking of my heart.
I looked around the room and all throughout the house
But nothing could be heard but the scurrying of a mouse.
And then my heart did leap for joy for something I did miss
When I found the letter and a Hershey’s Chocolate Kiss.
It said that you were sorry and you’d hurry back real soon
And every time you missed me you’d look up at the moon
So even though we’re far apart, I know this much is true
That I still love you with all my heart, and I know you love me too.
