Be careful what you say around children because they just may listen!
Back in the early 1990’s I used to travel quite a lot for the company that I still work for today. Even though most of the planning to get me out the door was like clockwork, last minute things always complicated it. Between our two children ages 2 and 4, and a puppy, something was always missed. Whether it was because I forgot it or one of the kids (or the dog) moved it, there was always something.

On one occasion, while I was packing my suitcase in the bedroom, my wife asked me to leave her some money just in case she needed cash. She had checks and credit cards but it is good to have cash just in case. I finished packing, kissed everyone goodbye, and left the house. When I got to the hotel I called my wife to let her know that I got there and during the conversation my wife informed me that I had left and didn’t leave her any money. I said that I was sorry and kept the call short because she was headed out the door to take our daughter to Pre-K class.

Later that evening, my wife called me when she knew I was back at the hotel and she was laughing hysterically. She said that she had dropped our daughter at school and when she went back to pick her up the teacher and her assistant met my wife at the classroom door and took her by the arm and guided her to a chair and made her sit. They were asking her if there was anything they could do for her and asked her how she was feeling. Apparently my daughter had told her teachers that, “My Daddy left my Mommy and didn’t leave her any money.”
