A song about a girl unaware of her own beauty
She's a beautiful girl in this beautiful town, watching the stars from the window of our limousine
She doesn't know that she's beautiful, but anyone else could see what I mean

She's wearing two-inch heels, her lucky heart necklace, brunette hair held in a butterfly clip
But deep down, she knows this is no town for her- she's just here on scholarship

Yeah, the city is pretty, but she can't see it's gilded
That poor girl of the same name, she'd give anything to fit in here
In this glamorous place full of style and celebrity
Oh Beverly Hills, you look like a movie star to me

Under the moonlight, her Prep School Prom Night, and everybody looks their best
She smiles at me, says "You clean up nice", it's nice to know that she's impressed
But when I tell her she's radiant, she walks away from me shaking her head
She's dodgin' my compliment, can't believe I meant what I said

Yeah, the city is pretty, but she can't see it's gilded
That poor girl of the same name, she'd give anything to fit in here
In this glamorous place only meant for the VIPs
Oh Beverly Hills, you look like a movie star to me

Later that night, she slips away by herself as our group is leaving the dance floor
Spinning around, lost in the crowd, she's seen a world of what she can't afford
She digs through her purse and pulls out her compact
And she pities the girl who she sees staring back
She knows that some people have, and some of us lack
And lacking's what she'll always be
Outside, looking in to the gated communities

Yeah, the city is pretty, but she can't see it's gilded
That poor girl of the same name, she'd give anything to fit in here
Instead of feeling so low in this high-class society
Oh Beverly Hills, you look like a movie star to me

Well, tomorrow she'll hang up her prom dress,
Yeah, tomorrow she'll be back wearing jeans and a Beatles t-shirt
But she'll keep our pictures on her desk to remind her
Of when she was a part of that world

And tomorrow all her friends will come over,
Nothing fancy- just wasting the day
No one would say that we're living the high life,
But she's realizin' that she likes it this way

Yeah, the city is pretty, but it's too expensive for my taste
The last slow song is playing, and my right hand's at the right girl's waist
She's shining right through the cast shadow of her modesty
Oh Beverly dear, next time you look in the mirror, I hope you see what I see
Because Beverly Hills, you look like a movie star to me

She's a beautiful girl, in this beautiful town, enjoying one night with our friends in a limousine
She doesn't know that she's beautiful, but maybe one day she'll see what I mean...
