An editorial about the destructive behaviors of big record labels.
A song about bitches & hoes, directed toward our youth, gets the utmost respect from "big, bad record labels". Positive rap gets none. If it did, then maybe we would have a chance with this up-and-coming new generation. But, no. We have been fooled and we are doomed. A positive rapper (Nas), who consciously speaks out for our youth and the Hip-Hop culture, has been forced to get hostile with an open letter to Def Jam. Allegedly Def Jam didn't " help draw the truth from my deepest and most inner soul, you don't even do a great job @ selling it." The open letter is here: http://allhiphop.com/stories/editorial/archive/2010/10/07/22425459.aspx This is a prime example of how Conscious rappers are treated like "slaves" in the industry today. It's all about the profit.....not about the love or talent anymore! My advice: go INDEPENDENT!
