Future excerpt intended for a fanfic I stopped awhile back. No references to fandom.
Sometimes, Richard wondered how he gets talked into these things. Sure, he was stressed, but how stressed can a guy get before he goes to something like this. His best friend would’ve come with him if he hadn’t had a family waiting for him. That’s right, sixteen years old and already with a wife and kid, not to mention his mother and baby brother.

As for Richard? Sure, he had school, work, and the world was going to Hell around him. That was a lot, but how desperate can you be to be convinced to go to a party with more alcohol than a liquor store, not to mention the drugs. He was certain that this place would be swarming with cops if there weren’t bigger issues.

The co-worker that invited him and hosted the party probably forgets Richard and his friend were barely old enough to drive. How else would anyone even bother asking him to come here? The party was quite large and right now, people wire either drunk off their rocker or so stoned they didn’t bother noticing the couple beside them was screwing each other senseless.

Sex, drugs, and rock and roll. The rock, he could deal with. The sex, he’d mind less if they just got a room. The drugs made him look to see if Ozzy Osbourne was in attendance.

Richard’s mouth was already dry from work, so he went to find something that wasn’t alcoholic. The only thing he could he could find was a bowl of punch. He didn’t care at this point and started to pick up the ladle to pour some into a cup.

“I wouldn’t drink that if I were you,” a girl said from behind. “It’s probably been spiked about ten times by now.”

Richard turned to look at the girl that said that, someone that was his age and not drunk or stoned. Thank, God, if there is one, Richard thought. She handed Richard a can of soda and Richard thanked her.

“So, you’re the only one not having fun here,” she said.

“Just not interested in much of this.”

“Come with me, my room is usually empty,” she said, grabbing Richard by the hand and dragging him through the crowds. She got to the door at the end of a hallway and quickly opened it, pulling Richard in and closing the door. The sound was partly muffled through the door and walls, but it was quiet enough in there.

“I’m surprised no one’s in here,” Richard said.

“They’d have to have taken enough drugs to kill themselves before anyone ended up in here again,” the girl explained. “At a previous party, a drunken couple snuck in here while I was trying to sleep, and started fucking on the floor when they realized the bed was taken. My brother got so mad that it became hard to forget.”

“Ouch,” Richard quipped, hoping the girl’s brother wouldn’t do as such to him.

“Don’t worry, you’re cool. He’s not going to get mad at someone I invited in here,” the girl told him. “I’m not much for the drugs and beer either.”

“What do your parents say about this?” Richard asked.

The girl turned her head down. “They…don’t say anything. They died a few months ago,” she told him.

Richard knew what happened then. It happened when things first started going wrong here. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be. It’s not your fault they died,” she told him.

“Yes, it is,” Richard snapped. “I…couldn’t save them. I couldn’t save anyone that day…”

The girl looked at Richard as he buried his head in his hands and his fingers grabbing onto his hair. It became obvious why he was invited in here. He needed the escape. “I don’t know what happened, but don’t blame yourself for something you had no control over,” the girl wrapped an arm around Richard, hoping to calm him down. She wondered how far she should go to relax him. It wasn’t like she could take all of his problems away, but she could offer a release to help clear his head.

She slowly got him to lie down on her bed and leaned over to whisper in to his ear. “I won’t do this for just anyone, but you need it now.”

With that, she lifted her shirt, not completely knowing what she was doing, but no one would notice the cries of pain and pleasure coming from the locked bedroom.

Richard woke up with the morning light in his eyes. He tried to make sense of where he was. Realizing he was in another girl’s room, he started to remember last night, how he and the girl lying with her head on his bare chest had sex the previous night. His leg brushed against a wet spot in the bed sheets, probably a mix of her blood and his own fluids. He didn’t remember ever having a condom slipped on him and how he released all of his seed inside her. “What have I done?” Richard asked, knowing he already had enough problems as it was.

“Are you okay?” the girl asked, realizing Richard was now awake.

“I don’t know anymore,” Richard told her. “I’m sorry I did that to you.”

“You had less of a say than you think. Don’t worry about any of it. You needed every second of it,” she told him.

“But…what if I…”

“Don’t worry about getting me pregnant. My brother put me on birth control ever since that incident. He was afraid I would be pressured into doing that.” Then, she giggled, “Funny, how I did that to you.”

Richard sighed. He still had sex with a girl he barely knew. It wasn’t his first time, but the first time was with a friend, the girl now married to his best friend.

“Relax, I won’t do it again if you don’t want it, but don’t regret what we did for a moment,” she told him. “Is there anything you need to talk about?”

“A lot. That’s why I don’t,” Richard said. “Just between work and school, I don’t know how to deal with it all, not to mention everything else going on.”

“I assume you’re directly involved in the fighting going on recently?”

Richard nodded. “My friends have their problems, so I feel I can’t go to them.” Richard looked over at the girl as she nodded. “Sorry, I couldn’t save your folks.”

“Don’t be. I’m sure you were doing what you could. I can’t blame you for doing that. And my brother isn’t doing that bad of a job. I just deal with these parties, since it’s his escape. He still worries about me. Part of it since I like one of his friends, who’s probably passed out somewhere...”

Richard chuckled nervously, hoping that guy wouldn’t kill him for the previous night.

“I don’t regret last night. You deserved it, and if you ever need release well…I wouldn’t mind doing that again,” the girl wrapped an arm around Richard and pulled him against her body. Despite everything going through his mind, he relaxed in the comfort she offered.
