Morning lose of a great friend who was like a brother.
Reaching to Him

I once had a brother

With stars in his eyes.

We would escape from our mothers,

And under the old oak we would lie.

We laughed and played,

Like two kids among the trees.

And the sun warmed our faces while we rested,

But we could never become free.

We stood by each other,

Through thick and thin.

He was hardly ever a bother.

And memories we made play again and again.

Yes, we did fight,

Like any brother and sister would,

But he had stayed by me on my most painful nights,

So I made it up to him as soon as I could.

At the end of one summer

I turned and he wasn’t there.

The news soon reached me,

And all I could think was he wouldn’t dare.

Though I came to find it true

On the darkest night I would ever know.

But the hardest part is still

Not letting my feelings show.

I longed so badly to join him,

Whether it was in heaven or hell.

But I had to try to forget him,

For my parents I could not tell.

He hasn’t become part of my past,

When I think of him I still cry.

But our bitter sweet memories last,

So not all of me did die.
