There were times when I figured I was different. Then one day, I finally knew why.
As I smiled nervously,

I started my year.

I had classmates and friends,

who were like anyone else.

That's why I figured, maybe,

this was different.

Little did I know,

I was knee deep With geniuses.

Cool classmates and friends,

they're like celebrities with brains.

That's when i figured, maybe,

I was different.

And so I tried

to be like them.

Tried hobbies and trends,

but still, I couldn't shine.

I can't help but figure, maybe,

things were different.

Then I saw how

those things really were.

Poor classmates and friends,

they weren't better than worse.

And so I figured, maybe,

they can be different.

A house of cards

could easily crash.

So I closed the windows

and hugged the bitter ones tight.

That's when they figured, maybe,

everything will be different.

As I smiled for real,

I ended my year

with classmates and friends

who were never the same.

And I figured, lately,

I was shining and different.
