Oh moon, pale moon, drifting through the sky
Oh moon, pale moon, drifting through the sky
aimless, shiftless, floating softly by
the darkness surrounds you and emptiness enfolds
and thusly, forever, you fall into the cold

Oh moon, pale moon, how you catch my eye
wandering, wondering, as here below I lie
enshrouded by blackness and so far from my home
farther and farther, I cannot help but roam

Oh moon, sad moon, to such great heights you rise
traveling, unchanging, long life has made you wise
yet what worth each triumph with nobody to share?
to farther voids, to brighter spheres, but no one there to care.

Oh moon, sad moon, no matter how I try
I cannot but follow in your wake as surely as the tide
Into the painful darkness, empty and alone
Cast from my world and banished, thy fate to be my own
