My acceptance of the end of a relationship.
What we had was something great
The times we shared
The laughs we had
The nights we held

I don’t know why you chose to leave
But I’m done questioning
I know that it was best for you
And I hope your life only improves

Although I miss you every day
I’m learning to look up and smile
I’m happy to take along with me
Every memory we ever had

Your eyes bore so deep in mine
The closeness we both felt
The warmth and comfort from just a hug
The feeling was so right

The times we laughed so hard
My stomach ached
Or the times we wrestled
I always let you win

Singing songs inside your car
You can dance if you want to
That song always makes me laugh
You never failed to make me smile
If you really tried

And when I was sick or in pain
Your arms would hold me close
Nothing could ever take me away
Like you could

Tickling you for hours
Massaging you in the car
Or even at work
I only wanted to make you smile

I gave my whole self to you
I felt you were the one
It never felt wrong
Although I wish I waited
It is something I'll never regret

You were the most respectful man
That I had ever met
You valued me as a person
Those values I hope you never forget

Thank you for the chance you took
Knowing you weren’t ready
You showed me something new
You showed me how it feels to love

And though I love you still
I know for you it wasn’t meant
And I mean this with sincerity
I hope you find what is
