A contest entry: “The Most Beautiful Wolf” for A&C Poetry contest.
Lean, lurking, luminous.
A wicked white wolf
pursues a pattering prey.

Slanted sable sash.
The canine’s cunning countenance
exudes enchanting excitement

Beads, black and bulbous:
Full of frightening ferocity,
always anticipating action.

Talons tearing at the target.
Ivories invading the innocent
victim; victory verified.

Day’s damage done.
Retiring in restful repose,
the beast breathes broadly.

Suddenly Serene.
