Change the song, it’s making me weep.

What went wrong?
What killed the masterpiece of history?
What turned the beautiful symphony of life
into this,
this crude cacophony
of missed notes and butchered rhythms,
of crushed hopes and tortured existence?

What happened?
Where is the balance
we once had with our fellow men?
Why did the rhapsody of love
become an ode to empty sin?

Could this really be
the song—the very song—
in which Adam first saw Eve,
and in which all of goodness weaved
itself the world.
What went wrong?

Once
upon a misty-eyed memory,
This song was peaceful
and serene.

But then,
one disenchanted evening,
The motley orchestra
ceased to ring a joyful melody

Instead,
the violins screeched in ecstacy
and the bass drum pounded
for deliverance.

Is this a sad, distasteful
Bridge to resolution
Or the ending
Of a song
That once deceived?

Please.
Someone.
Change the song.
It’s making me weep.
