a short essay on a time in my life in the war in iraq
hello im joshua watts i was stationed a few months back at FOB Andaconda oh wait everybodys not in the military so let me see a FOB is a Foward Operating Base think of it as a camp other than a fort but my story is not life on psot but other than life off post when we had missions or patrols everyday i was to drive the 20 mile journey to the AHA or Ammo Holding Area this AHA houses MLRS pods or Multi Luanch Rocket System rounds and i would be driving my HEMTT or Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck we would drive there and drive back nothing to it right no not today today my sarg walks up and tells me hey watts wears your eyepro i told him it was in my case on my bed that i didnt where them cuase my lense fog up so i was put as the driver and he was my gunner for the day it was just a buy round or there and back was nt spose to be trouble we got back from that patrol then were told to pack up again that some luanchers got a fire misson down south away si wanting to be the gunner i grbed my eye pro quick and got in the truck later on were convoying down and i here IED IED IED 1200 we all stop on haji runs from out behind the sand dune to my right waving a AK47 my way i light him up with a half second trigger sqweeze three round of 5.56mm SAW went throug him at that moment i see it a 155 round right under my truck i tell the driver IED below gun it as soon as the tires get off it boom thats all i see a flash i come to and the medic was treating my neck wound he siad i was glad to have eye pro on i look over and see the safty glasses i was wereing look like some body shot a can with bird shot 70 small pices of metal were in the lense that would have gotten in my eye but those safty glasses stopped it so look i dont care if your sawing wood,to welding were safty glasses they are there for a reason
