CSFS Poetry Competition March Entry
Leprechaun Gold

The clouds broke up, the rain still fell.
And I was caught within a spell.
As then I saw two arcs so bright
A double rainbow in my sight

I soon recalled the old wives' tale
of fairy gold, bright in a pail.
Leprechaun, Irish Gold so clean
Sat there for any one to glean

I chased the rainbow down the glen
to see if I could find the end.
To where, if you believe the tale,
I there could find Gold without fail.

But tho' I ran with all my might.
And tho' the damn thing stayed in sight.
The Sun decided not to play
And so my fortune slipped away.
