The coming of spring. (Form: Interlocking Rubáiyát)
Awakenings

The grasp of winter's frozen hands
lose purchase as nature commands.
The earth released, no longer bound,
awakens all the sleeping lands.

The whispers of the sun resound
in scattered seeds deep underground
who heed the call to stretch and reach
until, in brilliance, they are crowned.

The sycamores, the oaks, the beech,
reach heavenward as they beseech
the soft embrace of gentle rain;
a harmony of silent speech.

Like links within a living chain,
as cold and dark begins to wane,
the winter sleepers stir and yawn
as they arise from where they've lain.

In animation, not withdrawn,
all celebrate that night is gone.
In vibrant colors life expands;
a welcoming of nature's dawn.

Notes
An entry for Round 37 of "Invalid Item
Prompt: Spring
Form: Interlocking Rubáiyát
The Rubáiyát is a Persian form of several quatrains. An "Interlocking Rubáiyát" is a Rubáiyát where the subsequent stanza rhymes its 1st, 2nd, and 4th lines with the sound at the end of the 3rd line in the stanza before it. In this form, the 3rd line of the final stanza is also rhymed with the 3 rhymed lines in the first stanza. (aaba bbcb ccdc final:xxax) The lines are accentual-syllabic, usually tetrameters or pentameters.

A special thanks to Markymark for his suggestions and help.

Thank you for taking time to read my words. I would appreciate it if you took a moment and left a comment. Your reaction, impressions, criticisms, - yes, even praise - are all equally welcome.
