The horror of the sands that was once the bringer of life, now hungers for vengeance.
OthaggamRe

I am what once was, I am the land and the rulers.. I serve he who tells the audient void, I serve the chaos. My name has been unspoken for aeons, OthaggamRe.

In a time of uproar and revolution, tensions can rise high and terror arise. Many social events, or even gestures may come to an end. I have not noticed much of the current uproar as of yet, but I do not want to think of what strange practises go on at night. The streets are not quite as safe as they once were during the daytime, imagine how much worse it would then be during the night. These uproars were caused by an unseen chain of strange events, prophecies being whispered. Normally people laugh in the face of these 'prophets' strangely, these are being taking seriously. It is when multiple stories and observations align, something becomes a fact. In case of prophecies, the outcome must be seen to become a fact. But something as old as Ancient Egypt, arising from the sands of the desert seemed silly, even to me.

As I looked through the restaurant from the bar towards the many tables of the restaurant guiding my eyes towards the door, there was not much going on inside the small but cosy restaurant. Business as usual and customers as usual. When a rather peculiar person, shrouded in black walked towards one of the counters and was pointed towards a table. As I lit my cigar, I wondered why he acted so mysterious and why he was carrying a large leather bound book under his arm. These things would be known to me soon enough, as the men sitting behind me arose and walked towards this mysterious guest.

The men all seemed to be hiding their facial features and wearing these shroud or robe like black clothes, normally one would notice a long beard or rather rough features when looking at the local men here. These men were different, definitely not from here or anywhere near. The hands of these man looked awkward, as if they had been put into a fire as the skin of these hands seemed to have turned black like ashes, covering their bones. I could only describe their body features as extremely thin and their hands deformed by what-ever misfortune came over them. They talked in a rather quick accent, different from most of the people around town. Their quick tongues and shifty looks alerted my suspicion even more, but I wanted to know more about that book. A large black leather bound book larger than any book I had ever seen, with pages looking as as papyrus. Across my mind came the thought of sneaking towards the table while the men were drinking and snatch the book but, this book would be far too large to just be taken like that. I needed a cunning plan, or perhaps an unforeseen event.

Many times I have heard about books that could describe or even summon old great beings, greater than most of men could even dream about. It has been said that in earlier times we named these beings; gods, mythological beings or even monsters. I wanted to know if this large almost black leather book, was indeed one of the books of ancient myths. I wanted to approach the men to ask them about their whereabouts, or even there reasons to be in a small unknown town like this. I was interrupted by one of the men putting several objects upon the table which I immediately recognised, canopic jars why would anyone have those with him? I caught a few words of his speech, talking about a rising of an old being; of course I could only think of some mummy mumbo-jumbo. Why were some people silly enough to believe in the raising of the dead, hoping that their leaders of old would return to fix the world? These men were no strangers to this place, as this place has been a tell-tale of an earlier raising before. It was something that came from the sands during the night, an unspoken horror of myth and ancient times. But these men were not actually talking about raising something, but something that was arising already. It was then that all the light was killed and nothing but muffled and terrified voices were heard, this would be the day he returned. The unspoken name of horror, would be spoken across the desert sands once again as people would be too afraid to look upon it's face.

Mumbling and rumour were heard across the once so normal and quiet restaurant now, rumours of an ancient awakened evil. It was then that I heard strangely loud thumping footsteps across the town, a being that must be at least the size of a building and the size of a building it was. When peering outside there it stood, this black human like being taller than most buildings considered tall in this town. Easily did it overshadow the now quiet mosque across the street which easily reached forty meters in height, silently it gazed across the city as if seeking something or someone. A man lying besides me, obviously terrified gasped and the only thing that left his mouth was; OthaggamRe; OthaggamRe! I guess this was the creatures name as it looked down upon the man shouting these words turning him silent but, with his silence I could see a fear building upon within his eyes as he grabbed his head with both hands. Letting out a silent shriek the man violently began trembling on the ground with a gasping look of fear on his rapidly paling face, like all colour and life was sucked from him by this being. The men of the local militia thought no longer, it had to go down! Later they would notice, they had made the most foolish mistake they ever made in their entire career. As they charged the being with their primitive swords and musket like rifles the creature did not shrug nor move a muscle, instead it looked down with it's raven-like like head and seemed to brandish a large grin with now fiercely bright white eyes adorning their sockets. When the darkness of the night seemed to fade before our very eyes a disc in the shape of the sun appeared over OthaggamRe's head and sparks where flying aimlessly near our heads and bodies, brighter than the sun it did shine this disc of OthaggamRe; striking awe; striking fear and glowing with an almost blinding light. The soldiers that stood their in either awe or fear were not as lucky as I was, observing this spectacular show from afar as the thing OthaggamRe moved it's impressively huge muscles around. Instead of a solid human raven-like hybrid being that stood there it started to dissolve into something I could not name, Whirling, twisting, seeping and dragging itself across the streets. The crushing of bones could be heard amongst the many blood and agony filled screams, as the black and white glowing mass of tentacles, suckers, feathers and beaks now went rampage across the town.

It was like it came down from the pale moon itself, like a punishment send by the gods as we left them so many thousands of years ago forgotten yet worshipped silently. In the morning the wrath of OthaggamRe became clear to the light now shining down from this sun disc above the head of the creature again, the many twisted and deformed bones that now formed it's throne on which it sat with a gloomy grin upon it's raven-like head. Humanity had forgotten what they were all along and what they were create for, to serve and work for those beings stronger and more intelligent OthaggamRe has shown that once again. The warmth of the artificial sun, as we called it upon the head of OthaggamRe started to become less in a matter of what were perhaps mere minutes as it seemed to now glow with an almost pure white light. Light it was indeed, too bright for my eyes to bare now as I turned them away to avoid becoming blind expecting everything that had happen till now to disappear and return to normal. Snow started to fall within the warm spring desert as if it was normal for snow to fall down here, no signs of the great OthaggamRe as it appeared to have completely vanished along with it's throne. An eerie presence surrounded my being, and I was slowly dragged upwards into the air towards a now complete darkness. Shivering and afraid of what was to come, I drifted between the snow, clouds and desert sand.

Only the oldest of gods could tell where I was at this moment, in this shrieking vortex like cloud mixed with snow and desert sand. A sickening shadow, reaching out it's hands which looked more like tentacles than hands, but in a whirling rotting and decaying state. Among me were the remains of so many I had seen in the city itself, their half decayed bodies floating around also seeming to reach out for me and even call out my name time after time. These ghosts or monstrosities were once my comrades and friends, now they only reminded me of mindless ghouls attempting to bite the flesh of my bone and lick my brains out of my open skull. All around I could see temples and hieroglyphs showing different names with each time a different cartouche, these rounds drawings describing names of Pharaohs normally only had one thing in common; they displayed a name, the name OthaggamRe. As these places of nameless worlds kept seemingly spinning round my head and body I could see spheres of light now joining in amongst the ghoulish corpses and once human beings, like ghosts floating around in this vortex of shadow and complete blackness. Beyond time and space is where I thought I was now as this vortex seem to be never ending, blinding and completely soundless amongst the ghouls floated this soul, this being, called OthaggamRe with still a mischievous grin upon it's raven-like face.
