My personal view on an addiction.
It taps on my door.  I try to ignore,
Knock! I try harder, but louder it gets.
Pound, pound, pound!  Ceaseless, can't take anymore!
Turn.  Open.  Help!  It instantly besets.

Wrapt, powerless, in a chain-like cocoon.
I struggle, but my will is not my own.
No need to fight, fear, hopes start to maroon.
Deep into the dark, grim, night I am thrown.

My body moves, but I'm just a puppet.
I hear screams of victims of many kinds.
There's no escape, our soul is the gambit.
Vampire to blood, the feast of desire binds.

Unless I am saved, I cannot be free,
For in myself, no power over me.
