Divorce...is one of my least favorite words, but it happened to someone I know.
Divorce

Twisted hearts,
And tales once told of love.
All diminished with a seed of hate,
Which grew,
And over took all that she had.
She thinks now she has found love,
And a better life.
Her eyes were closed.
So she left him,
And us.
For a relationship disguised in lies.
She broke his heart,
And sent away mine.
Oh, the memories I have of you,
Do fade with the grayness
Of your heart.
“How could you”, I plea,
“Just forget about me?
Why do you offer your love,
To strangers unknown?
Or is it now that we are the strangers to you?"
Yet little or no love can be found.
So why did you betray his warm heart,
For another’s?
Whose heart is bitter with deceit!
Why did you leave,
When endless love was given?
You sent it all back,
Without reply.
And so if you ask to come back,
To join our lives once more
I regret to say,
“That when you sent my heart
And love away,
It got lost, and can no longer return.”
So now I ask,
“What is to love,
In a world of hate?”
