what the future may hold
day after day the cycle repeats
with honest men telling honest lies
collusion and deceit are a way of life
for those who deal in the truth

row after row of identical boxes
laid out in matching grids
one for all, all as one
singularity but a dream

from shadow to shadow we slink
praying on the poor and the weak
discovering slowly the horrible truth
that we are the carnivores we fear

person after person we shun
managing to isolate ourselves
in an ever shrinking world
mad has made paranoia and art form

lie after lie bombard our ears
security no longer exists
can we line in a society
where deception is a priority

age after age have been told
by those much older and wiser
all cats are grey in the dark
and truth like a cat is the same.
