To Work With Mother

He was cozy in the basket full of eggs
A strange sound woke him with a start
“Who are you and why did you wake me?”

“I came to work with mother today too”
“Would you have room enough for me?”
My feet hurt and my feathers are so droopy

The grass inside made a really good pillow
A new friend big and a new friend small
Going to work with mother was no fun at all
