Someone has to do it,
fighting the good fight
in the darkest of the dark.

We are not the ones
you see in church,
or in children’s bibles.

But we are here,
protecting those forgotten
by all but God.

The darkest evil
comes at night,
and that is where
we are found.

Standing, vigilant,
engaged in battle,
we fight until the end,
when the white robes
come to take them home.
