A day on the beach, a moment in time, a beautiful soulful feeling.
The sun beat down on her from up above; warm but not uncomfortably so. A breeze caressed her, ruffling her hair with its cool fingertips. It carried with it the slightly off aroma of fish, of salt, of hot summer days and promises of sweet, sultry romance.

She lay on her stomach in the sand, facing away from the waves that lapped gently at the shore. She could hear their soft call but not see them.

The sound of a child’s giggle reached her ears and she smiled; it’s sweet, almost lyrical sound a symphony playing in the wind.
The deep baritone of his voice broke through her consciousness causing her to start. She looked over her shoulder. He was waving, one palm closed in a ‘thumbs up’ sign. She could feel his happiness close the physical distance between them; it filled her with a joy so intense that it burst from her lips in a laugh.

This was what love was; this sweet uncomplicated feeling that rushed over her, filling her up with its sunshine like rays. It was the laughter that glittered in the air around her; the delicious warmth that danced over and tip toed through her body; it was even the soft, gritty sand that her body rested upon.

It stayed with her but a moment; but she felt it – felt it fill her up and retreat gently, like a lover leaving in the morning.

It left; but it left her with only peace and happiness.
