About the loss of my dog and my grandfather.
A Love Story

Everything is white.

The floor, the walls, every thing.

The Lady hates white.

I think it was because my sisters and I would often shed on it.

"Jasmine Davis."
Hearing my name called, I immediately head towards the one who called it, like the good dog that I am.
While I walk, I muse upon my family.
There were seven of us in total.
First and foremost was the Alpha. As soon as I saw him, I knew he was in charge. He was the biggest, the strongest and the most intimidating. Still, I have to say that I loved the Alpha the best. He was very kind. Always dutifully feeding my sisters and I in the morning, throwing the ball for me when he came home, even letting me go on car rides, just because he could. My tail wagged slightly at the memory.

Next was the Lady, the Alpha's mate. She was a bit less patient than her partner, but no less kind. she too would feed me, let me run outside and give me treats. After a little coaxing, of course!

After that came the Girl. The Girl was closer to my sister than she was to me, but she was still a part of the family. She wasn't home as often, having left the nest, so to speak, but she always dropped by for the few days. It was always nice to see her.

Then came the Boy. Not exactly accurate, considering he was now larger than the Alpha. But I knew him when he was just a pup, so he would always be the Boy to me. He would often speak to me when he was alone. Sometimes he would be happy, others he would be upset, and while I couldn't always understand what he said, I think he appreciated having someone listen.

Finally, there was my two sisters. Small black felines, one thin and vain, the other fat and high-strung. They were annoying, but loveable as a whole.

I found myself before a desk, where an older man was sitting. He seemed to exude an aura of kindness.

"Hello, Jasmine," He said kindly, "My name is St. Peter. I know what you're feeling. It's never easy to leave your family behind."

You got that right! Who would guard the house? Or keep track of all the tennis balls? Maybe they would get another dog? I wasn't sure how I felt about that.

"Would you say you've had a good life, my Dear?" St. Peter asked.

Was he kidding? I had a great life! I had a warm home with plenty of food, and a great family who loved me very much. I couldn't have been happier!

"I'll take that as a yes!" he said, seeing my happy expression and wagging tail. "Very well, you may proceed. I've arranged for someone you know to be your guide."

A very familiar scent hit my nose, a scent only belonging to one person. I immediately took off running towards the man who's scent I had missed so much! He was younger than before, but there was no mistaking him. I jumped onto my hind legs and started licking his face!

Papa!

He chuckled at my antics while scratching my ears.

"Easy girl! It's good to see you too!" I dropped to all fours, grinning up at him. "Come on, Jazzy. I have a lot to show you."

I was about to follow him, but my ears drooped as I glanced back in the direction I had come from, whimpering sadly.

Papa rubbed my head comfortingly, "I know, girl. You miss your family." Tears welled up in his eyes. God knows I miss them too, but hey," he flashed a brave smile. "It's not like you'll never see them again! It may be a long goodbye, but it's not forever. One day, we'll all be together again. I promise."

Papa turned and walked away. I took one last look back. A long goodbye, but not forever, huh? I guess that'll work! So, goodbye everyone! Thank you for giving me ten of the best years a dog could have! I hope I haven't upset you all by leaving, but it was just my time. Keep your heads up! We'll see each other again! Though you all better not be in any hurry to get up here! Don't worry, I can wait! After all, I turned and chased after Papa, I've got all the time in the world!

Goodbye.
