a relationship fails yet again, finding a way to survive

In no hurry for jealousy,

green-eyed monsters and travesties.

Peace please, do not flaunt

unfaithfulness and cruelty.

I shall hide in my shadow,

an imaginary Gennie bottle

satin pillows, velvet cushions

enough Godiva to kill the pain.

Memories live on in photographs
no reminders;
 flames reduce all to ash.

The warm promise on my left hand

puts cold cash in my right.

Soft melody, tender heartstrings

a symphony of you and me,

once a priceless reality

reduced to hopeless fantasy.

I am a proud surviver,

been down and out before,

a bedraggled ship

struggling to get to shore.

Sew gently with fine thread
healing a broken heart takes time.

While it is fractured,

an extra cushion protects me just fine.
